Fair housing testing can catch site staff off guard if they aren't prepared for such an encounter. This session will cover a variety of common fair housing topics being tested by agencies around the country and best practices for how to avoid a violation. Leslie will discuss examples of cases she has handled, explain why they are so difficult to defend, and highlight some best practices for how housing providers can avoid problematic interactions with testers. 

 Objectives: 
  •  Identify what prospect questions should be red flags for site staff 
  •  Learn safe/smart responses to common questions posed by testers
  •  Emphasize the importance of record-keeping when interacting with prospects
