“SAL encourages women to reach higher levels of leadership
by helping them gain the life skills, knowledge and confidence
”
SAL was named after Sally Lentz-Crouse who was a leader in the multifamily housing industry and a pioneer for all women in the real estate industry. To keep Sally's legacy alive, in 2008 the Indiana Apartment Association began what is now an annual Leadership Training Conference focusing on L-E-A-D for future women industry leaders.
L-E-A-D (Leadership: Equine Assisted Development), a service provided by M-A-P, LLC, is a unique experience utilizing horses in an unconventional approach to leadership, teambuilding, and personal and professional development to "Unharness the Leader Inside." To date, 58 women and 29 Alumni have participated in L-E-A-D.
The Leadership: Equine Assisted Development training is a powerful experience that unlocks the personal strengths and develops the participants leadership, team and communication skills while increasing their awareness and stimulating their creativity. The horse makes L-E-A-D unique and unlike other experiential activities ... the horses provide participants a real-life mirror of thoughts, emotions and physical behaviors that may not be in their consciousness.
Horses provide something that no river or ropes course can - immediate feedback to the participants emotions and behaviors. All activities are conducted on the ground; no riding is done and no horse experience is needed.
The L-E-A-D program provides a forum for awareness and skill-building that increases the capacity to meet strategic objectives. Significant learning moments are created that are applicable and transferable to the participants professional and personal life.
