Benefits of Membership
Government Relations Program
- IAA provides members with information on how government affects the operation of your business. Professional lobbyists work on your behalf during the State Legislature. Recent successes include the inclusion of multifamily housing in the tax relief; we will be working to make the 2% property tax caps for rental property permanent. Successes include defibrillator legislation, smoke detector legislation and landlord-tenant legislation regarding disposal of abandoned property.
- Information concerning new laws and regulations is immediately forwarded to members on critical issues.
The Legislative Action Center in the Members Only section of www.iaaonline.net allows you to stay current on legislation, and send e-mails to legislators on issues facing our industry.
- IAA designed a Web site for apartment residents, www.apartmentvoterscount.com, to educate them about recent legislation that allows renters to be involved in the remonstrance process.
Education
- Members receive up to 50% off on education class registration fees.

In addition, ten CallSource educational Webinars are also included in the low price. This fee allows ALL staff from the community to attend ALL A.C.T.T. seminars throughout the year.
- IAA continues to offer training for National Apartment Leasing Professional (NALP), (Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) and Certified Apartment Property Supervisor (CAPS) designations as developed by the National Apartment Association. Public Relations
- IAA developed a Resident Retention program built around the informative “Choosing Your Home” brochure that educates potential homebuyers on the differences of Renting vs. Buying.
- IAA has a statewide Neighborhood Watch Program for apartment communities. Law enforcement officials have praised and supported the program since its inception a few years ago. Many apartment communities use this program as an opportunity for community outreach and often earn media coverage. IAA recently revised its Neighborhood Watch manual to easily guide a community in setting up a program.
